ABOUT B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S.

Founded in August 4, 1982, the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S. (Brothers Reaching Out To Help Enlighten and Rejuante Self-consciousness) organization was the brainchild of founders Mr. La Russo Baker, Mr. Willie C. Doss and Mr. Kenneth D. Edison, three men of excellent character that shared a mutual vision and plan for black males on Northern Illinois University's (NIU) campus.

Over three decades since its inception, B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S. remains both a NIU Student Association-recognized organization actively involved on NIU's campus and a staple in the DeKalb and Chicagoland-area community. Since the founding of the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S. organization, the organization's mission and main foucs has continued to be to uplift the students on NIU's campus and surrounding community through actively engaging in community service and encouraging the promotion of brotherhood.

With 32 proud years of service under our belts, the B.R.O.T.H.E.R.S. organization continues to expand, evolve and adapt to the needs of the student body of NIU and the surrounding DeKalb community.
